South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -March 28, 2008
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
A. Public Hearing
(1) continued...
north as Jefferson getting purchased, and I
don't mind not getting purchased if my
property values go up and I continue having
a reasonably good retail business there. But
right now I'm wondering, because we're
buying the Gates Chevy World building,
we're going to begin immediate demolition
on that apparently, and I just wonder what's
going to happen to me in the surrounding
area here. I know you guys don't have a lot
of answers, but are there any answers at all?
MR. KING: Thank you Mr. Aichele. What
we'll do after we hear everyone's comments,
I'll ask Mr. Schalliol to come up and address
these questions.
DAN JAWORSKI: My residence is included
in the redevelopment area, 415 S. William.
As this gentleman previously stated, I'm not
sure I'm for or against this matter. However,
I would like to know if the city's position is
that this is a project that would benefit the
public, too, or is this just to benefit more
private enterprise in the area, more for
Coveleski.
MR. KING: We'll see to it that question gets
answered.
There being no one else who wished to speak
regarding Resolution No. 2441, Mr. King
closed the public hearing for whatever action
the Commission wished to take.
7
