Hear
Our Voices at 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Mr. Joshua Short, Morning Anchor/Reporter
WNDU will facilitate this exciting conversation with our youth.

The public can participate in the meeting by following by clicking on Zoom App:
https://tinyurl.com/YACTOWNHALL06252020

The South Bend Common Council recognizes the importance of creating a structure
for youth to provide input and become involved in the civic process. Similarly, city
government can directly benefit from the input of the youth by encouraging and
engaging positive youth involvement.

The Youth Advisory Council was created to provide young people a means to
positively engage with city government, explore local social justice issues, policy
development and to prepare them to effectively organize, lead and understand the
importance of civil engagement and the power of their voices.

Youth voice has always been vital to social and political changes in America. In
these days of national turmoil, unrest, demands for social justice and change, our
hope is that by amplifying young people’s voices and helping them to be a part of
national and local conversations, their experiences and perspectives can shape a
better future.

During the Town Hall Virtual Meeting, members of the South Bend Youth Council,
along with students from St. Joseph and Penn High Schools, will share their
perspectives, feelings, and thoughts on critical issues facing our country and how
those issues have affected them.

###
Karen L.
