Page 1
March 28, 2020
309 W. Marion, South Bend, IN 46601
Description
This house has a raised front porch built from concrete and stucco. Part of the porch is
covered by a roof. The front wall of the porch has crumbling stucco and a significant hole
from water damage and overgrown plantings. About a third of the floor is broken and
uneven from water damage and ice accumulation. The design of the porch, with the porch
roof not covering the whole area, contributes to these water problems.
Overview
Our request is to keep the existing porch roof, columns, and walls around the porch steps
and the front door of the house. The porch floor would be shortened so that it is entirely
under the existing porch roof. A new wall will be built in the same style as the existing
porch walls and will have a stucco finish. Similarly areas where the porch touched the
house would be repaired in the same style as the existing wall.
