June 13, 2019
RE: 304 W Navarre

On June 11, 2019, I noticed a work truck and trailer parked at 304 W Navarre. The workers for Quality
Door had just removed the double door and side lights from the west side of the house. I confirmed
through the permit system that no COA or AA was issued for the work and then called Adam at the
office. The work was not part of a recent application submitted. The submitted application was from
A&M Roofing for the roof and removal of a doorway on the east side of the structure.
I introduced myself to the crew working and the gentleman showed me his paperwork via a work order
on his phone stating that a permit was pulled. I photographed what was removed and then what was to
be installed. Dimensions were nearly identical. And with the color selections the outside appearances
were also very similar. The main difference was the original were hinged outward opening doors as
opposed to the replacements which are sliding. The other part worth mentioning is that the removed
was a combination of aluminum and wood whereas the new appeared to be solely extruded aluminum.
The doors that were removed were not original to the house as those materials (wood and aluminum
combination) would not have been in use when the house was built.
Photographs have been added to the digital file. I will provide a finished product photograph when I
return to the site at the next opportunity.

Steve Szaday
Preservation Inspector
