NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) <br />a. continued.... <br />Ms. Schwartz commented that she is <br />impressed with the substantial <br />employment growth of Schafer Gear <br />Works, Inc. She asked Mr. Blenke if <br />Schafer Gear Works, Inc. is planning to <br />hire highly skilled workers. <br />Mr. Blenke responded that Schafer Gear <br />Works, Inc. is looking for highly skilled <br />machinists but they are extremely difficult <br />to find in this area. The wages for highly <br />skilled machinists are approximately $10 <br />to $14 an hour. Schafer Gear Works, Inc. <br />has set up an internal training program and <br />corresponds with Ivy Tech to find people <br />with these technical skills. <br />Upon a motion by Ms. Auburn, seconded <br />by Mr. Donoho and unanimously carried, <br />the Commission adopted Resolution <br />No. 1560 approving an application for <br />personal property tax deduction for <br />property located in the Sample -Ewing <br />Development Area. Commission approval requested for <br />Agreement for the Lease and <br />Development of Real Property within <br />the South Bend Central Development <br />Area.
