South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - December 19, 1997
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
p. continued....
is very good. I was at a public hearing
earlier this week for another locally ran
entity —the College Football Hall of
Fame —and we have an operational deficit
of $1,140,000. So there are pretty
significant differences between these two
enterprises. I was an early critic of
Blackthorn. I'm still not sure it should
have been built, but I would like to
congratulate the people involved for
running a very good operation and doing
very well. But when the bigger bond
payments come up in a few years, I think it
will be a little more difficult to make them.
But still, I think that any losses we might
have will be kind of minimal compared to
what we are experiencing with the College
Football Hall of Fame —so
congratulations. I think the success of
Blackthorn has made critics, like myself,
somewhat silent on this particular project.
Good -luck in the future.
Robert Hunt asked if there was anyone
else who wished to speak regarding
Resolution No. 1557. There was no one
else who wished to speak regarding
Resolution No. 1557. Robert Hunt closed
the public hearing for whatever action the
Commission wished to take.
q. Commission approval requested for
Resolution No. 1557 appropriating
monies for the purpose of defraying the
expenses of certain local public
improvements for the fiscal year
F:\HOME\CPHWPS\WPDATA\COMMSM121997.MIN -20-
