STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Unlike other Local Historic Districts, chain link fences are not explicitly prohibited in the <br />Standards and Guidelines for the Lincoln Way East Historic District, and existing examples may be found in the vicinity of the <br />applicant's property. Motion to approve COA #2018-0315 is passed. <br />3. 129 W North Shore Drive COA# 2018-0322 #6512-78 West North Shore Dr <br />Representation: Kevin Buccellato, 304 Twyckenham Avenue <br />STAFF REPORT <br />CONCERNING APPLICATION FOR A <br />CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS <br />• Date: April 10, 2018 <br />Application Number: 2018-0322 <br />Property Location: 129 W North Shore <br />Architectural Style/Date/Architect or Builder: Neo -Classical Revival / 1905 <br />Property Owner: May Ellen O'Connell & Peter Bauer <br />Landmark or District Designation: West North Shore Local Historic District, Ordinance #6512-78 <br />Rating: Notable <br />DESCRIPTION OF STRUCTURE/ SITE: This 2 story plus attic Neo -Classical house sits upon a brick and concrete foundation. <br />The plan is square plus additions. Roof is gable ended with twin dormers on long fagade with asphalt shingles. The exterior of the <br />structure is covered in aluminum siding, although the original has been restored at the rear. There is a two-story front entry porch, <br />triple corner columns with ionic capitals supporting a simple pediment with dentil frieze. Windows are 35/1 wood double -hung <br />throughout with trim concealed by siding. Front door has twin sidelights with paneled spandrel. <br />ALTERATIONS: COA #1984-0810 allowed for the replacement of the asphalt shingle roof. COA #2005-1104 allowed for <br />maintenance work around the exterior including the soffit, trim, siding and roof flashing repair work. COA #2006-0118 allowed <br />for the repair, removal, and replacement of sections of brick wall along the alley with a temporary fence at the rear of the property. <br />COA #2006-0118B allowed for the installation of fence along the perimeter of the property. RME #2006-0118C allowed for repair <br />of the concrete steps in the front of the house. COA #2007-0313 allowed for the replacement of the roof, as well as the replacement <br />of windows with new, operable wooden windows. COA #2007-0404 allowed for the rehabilitation of the garage, including the <br />removal of a later addition to the structure. COA #2007-0813A allowed for the removal of siding and reinstallation of roof flashing <br />and windows of the two front roof dormers. COA #2008-0623 allowed for the removal and replacement of a tree at the southwest <br />comer of the lot. COA #2014-0113 allowed for the remodeling of the kitchen area by restoring and reinstalling windows as well <br />as adding a small porch.
