It has a gable roof with several cross gables, half-timber rake trim is covered in asbestos tile <br />shingles. The body of the house is mainly brick with a half timbering and stucco in the front gable that <br />also has a square bay and stucco in the entry gable that has a round arched entry door with diamond pane <br />glass and brick tabbing at the door surround. There are original windows with paired 6 light casement <br />windows with four light fixed transoms on the first floor. There are wood replacement casement windows <br />on the second floor. Some of the windows have brick header course sills. <br />ALTERATIONS: Portions of the roof were replaced in-kind in 1988. There are 1 lwood replacement <br />casements on the second floor approved in September 1994. The rear porch was enclosed. The tennis <br />court is a later addition. COA 2008-1013 approved replacement wooden fence in rear of house. <br />—Replacement of single pane windows with glass block was approved with COA 2014-101413. COA 2014- <br />1204 approved replacement of rear door. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Removing/replacing roof, currently has asphalt/fiberglass/fiber composite <br />shingles, want to replace with Certainteed Highland slate asphalt shingles, 2 low -sloped areas (not visible) <br />currently have tin, want to replace with 0.060-0.080 TPO membrane, copper drip edge, copper valleys. <br />DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: Contractor proposes to remove existing slate -look <br />shingles and replace with Certainteed Highland Slate designer shingles. This choice of material mimics <br />the look of slate, although in a consistent pattern, unlike the current random -look shake roof. The <br />contractor is unaware of any product currently on the market that would accurately replicate the existing <br />roofing, and other synthetic slate options have proven too costly. 0.060-0.080 TPO membrane roof will <br />be installed on flat roof areas to replace existing tin.
