Russell Stapp, Architect, Whitcomb & Keller, builder Property Owner: Stephen Camilleri & Erin Kennedy Landmark or District Designation: East Wayne Street Rating: Contributing DESCRIPTION OF STRUCTURE/ SITE: This L -plan 2 -story frame house sided with wood shingles, has a gable roof with asphalt shingles. Windows are 8/1 and 6/1 double -hung with wood trim and sills, and ornamental louvered shutters on second floor windows. The house front features a central entry canopy with gable roof and round arch under gable. There is a detached 2 -car frame garage with asphalt - shingled gable roof, and clapboard siding. ALTERATIONS: Aluminum storm windows and doors have been added. An enclosed east wing was added to the house in 1937, and a 13'x19' rear addition in 1959. COA 2008-0716 and 2015-0624 both approved complete tear -off and re -roof with asphalt shingles. APPLICATION ITEMS: Kitchen remodel and second floor addition on the rear of the structure within the footprint of a rear porch that was previously added. This porch is not original to the house. The addition will include a new master bedroom and bath. Additionally, a new bath will be built in the basement. See attached document for complete description. DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: The owners propose to add a second floor at the rear of house, over the existing, one-story non -original back porch addition. The ridge of the new addition will align with the existing house ridge and will not be visible from the street. The original house details will be used for the addition. On the first floor, a mudroom will be added where the exterior porch currently is located. On the second Floor, a Master Suite will be constructed over the back porch. Siding to be machine split, number one grade clear cedar shingles by Edmund Allen, to match existing painted wood shingles; painted wood trim to match existing. Windows will be Marvin Ultimate Magnum wood double hung windows with mullion, scale, and simulated divided lites to match existing windows; trim to match existing. Proposed Velux FS deck - mounted skylight to be added at southwest side of new gable to allow light to enter stair hall. Existing exterior door will be reused. Architectural shingles on the new roof to match existing roof. Eave and gable rake details to match existing house. PRESERVATION SPECIALIST REPORT: STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES: East Wayne Street Local Historic District III. NEW CONSTRUCTION New construction includes any new building or structure constructed within the boundaries of the historic district, or any new addition to an existing building.
