The cold storage building is in poor condition and was never intended to be anything more than storage space. As such, its single wythe block construction has never been improved upon, the roof is in need of replacement and the entire structure is in need of a substantial renovation if it were to be utilized for any meaningful purpose. The costs to renovate the building far outweigh the value resulting from such renovation. e Upon the completion of the planned improvements, including the addition of the new parking lot, the site will have a much improved curbside appearance than the existing building. The addition of fencing, landscaping and outdoor seating areas will add to the newly refurbished look of the main JC Lauber building. The structure to be razed was never a part of the historic structure and only by virtue of vacating the former alley between the main buildings and the structure to be razed, is the building even considered a part of the historic structure. The building has little if any relevance as far as historical perspective. Hopefully, this answer will suffice for your needs.
