April 29111, 2015
Carl Gillett
830 Park Avenue
'Znut-b Tlpr.A IN
PROPOSAL SUMMARY. I am applying to install a wooden picket fence enclosing the
front yard of 830 Park Avenue. I have a six year old child and I want my son and his
friends to be able to play safely in the front yard, since the road and shared
drivi-way.arn -nexti-n,tht,.front vord and the nrnnprt-v hoc no-arns--, nr aardnn in the -
rear. (There is a deck at the side and the area to the rear of the house is owned by
828 Park.)
PROJECT DIMENSIONS. The proposed picket fence would fully enclose the front
-ard shown in DOC -1 and 2 as outlined in the enclosed djap-ram DOC -3. There
would be a gate where the present path to the front door meets the side walk,
roughly half -way along the frontage to the road, made from the same panels used
for the fence. The rough dimensions of the fence are approximately as follows: 40'
running from the existing panel fence separating 830 from 828 Park running to the
sidewalk, then running the full length of the front of the property (including the
gate) and then from the sidewalk along the driveway shared with 834 Park to the
existing raised bed at the front of the house. (The gap between the house and fence
in the raised bed will be filled with thorny shrubs and other plants.)
MA ' TERIALS. The materials to be used are 8 feet long cedar gothic fence panels, 31/z
feet in. height, (see DOC -4 and DOC -5) of the same type used at 424 Manitou and 413
Navarre shown in the enclosed photos F and G. The posts for the proposed fence will
be pressure treated lumber reaching 31/2 feet to the top rail of the fence and
supported with a concrete base hidden beneath the dirt. (In the same style as the
existing fences in photos G and F.)
FENCES AT NEARBY PROPERTIES. As the enclosed photos A-E document, there are
numerous houses with fences, either picket or metal, enclosing their front yards on
Park Avenue. Nearby properties are (the photos from Google still represent the
present fences):
844 Park Avenue (picket fence) - photo A
846 Park Avenue (picket fence) - photo B
7338 Park Avenue (picket fence) - photo C'
838 Park Avenue (iron fence) - photo D
819 -Park Avenue [Iron fence)j - photo E
CHAPIN PARK PROPERTIES WITH EXISTING FENCES USING PROPOSED PANELS.
Properties in the Chapin Park HPC also already use the proposed style of gothic
cedar picket fence to enclose their yards.
