Area B (See Appendix A)
The following describes the proposed work that Indiana Michigan Power and/or it's
subcontractors are to perform in order to re -feed lights and service points in Leeper Park. All
work will be done as part of the Bartlett Street Improvements Phase I and Memorial North
Parking Lot Project. (City Project No. 114-032 and 114-047).
Two 4" conduits (electrical grade) will be installed perpendicularly across Park Lane from the
existing I&M Manhole C7-2 to a new above ground Pedestal, see attached photos, that is to be
located in Leeper Park approximately 10 to 15ft north of the existing curb. These two conduits
will be installed at a minimum burial depth of 36" and they will be concrete encased. The
Pedestal that is to be installed is approximately 29" by 16" and it will sit above the ground
approximately 24". In addition, we will install underground service wire from this new Pedestal
to the existing Pole and H -frame which are within a 15ft radius of the proposed Pedestal
location. These underground service conductors will be direct buried at a minimal burial depth
of 30".
In addition to the primarily underground work described above we will need to do some minor
tree trimming on the tree that is located just east and north of the existing I&M Pole. This
trimming will be required so that we can re -feed the street lights along Michigan St. with
overhead circuitry.
For the purposes of screening both the new Pedestal and existing utilities from the general
public in the park, a line of six 5 gal. evergreen shrubs (Taxus X Media — see photos) will be
placed approximately 5'north of the Pedestal. These shrubs typical grown to 3'-4' in height and
are described as an easily maintained hedge.
The disturbed area will be restored to its original condition. If any additional soil is required to
level out the area after compaction it will be done with topsoil. Once construction is complete,
all disturbed areas will be covered with new sod of the same type that is currently on site.
