Walls 'are stucco. There is a large brick enclosed front porch with pediment over entry. <br />Windows are wood double hung 1%1 with wood storms. There is a pediment over 2"a floor center bay <br />windows.. There is a 1 %2 storey stucco garage. House and garage roofs have red file with wide overhangs, <br />decorative wood cornices and frieze with gable bellcast. <br />ALTERATIONS: Garage doors replaced with COA#1997-0606. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Remove tile roof, repair build -in rain gutters, and replace roof tile with. <br />"metro -ROMAN", which is stone -coated galvanized steel that will appear like the existing roof. *See <br />attached for additional description by owner. <br />DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT:, The roofs on both garage and house leak as well as the <br />built in gutter on the house; there is no gutter on the garage. A quote to restore using salvage and in-kind <br />replicated tiles is more than double the proposed. The Metal Roofing Solutions; Inc. product proposed is <br />similar in appearance to the tile, but of a galvanized steel material with a stone coating. The contractor <br />intends to replace any damaged decking, install ice and water shield membrane over decking, remove <br />existing built in gutter, custom fabricate and install a galvanized steel built in gutter that will have EPDM <br />membrane fully adhered to the steel, install Metro Roman Tile Steel Roofing System, install. Metro trim <br />flashings, ridge caps, gable rake trim, vent pipe flashings, chimney flashings, and new downspouts. New <br />gutters will be installed on the garage. <br />STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES: <br />II. EXISTING STRUCTURES <br />B. ROOFS ANDROOFING <br />Roof shapes in the district encompass all the various designs found in residential structures: hipped, gable, <br />gambrel, flat, and, combinations of these. Roofs are covered with a variety of materials such as asphalt, <br />asbestos, wood and slate shingles as well as clay tiles. Residences in most cases have wood fascias with <br />gutters and downspouts. The fascias of some vinyl or aluminum sided houses are covered with the same <br />material. <br />Required <br />The existing shape and materials of the roof shall.be retained. All architectural features which give the <br />roof its.essential character shall be retained, including dormer windows, cupolas, cornices, brackets, <br />chimneys, cresting and weather vanes. <br />Recommended <br />Whenever possible, the original shape and materials of the roof shall be restored. Particular effort should <br />be made to retain materials such as slate, tile, and other unique materials not commonly found in new <br />construction. Roof covering which is deteriorated beyond repair should be replaced with new material that <br />matches as closely as possible the original in composition, size, shape, color and texture.
