Most houses in the District have unenclosed porches across the front of the house or to the side. Stoops and small patios are also
present. Many houses have porches with a hip or gable roof. Some porches are integrated under the main roof of the house.
Columns, brick piers with colonettes or tapered posts, brick piers with concrete caps or turned spindles support the porch roofs.
