27 March Photographed the turret of the Remedy Building for Urban Adventure this <br />summer. General Office work <br />28 March Personal Day <br />29 March Good Friday. Office Closed <br />1 April COA deadline. General Office work. <br />2 April Scott Sneff from IT met with Staff to illustrate the HPC icon and info and <br />the input needed for the tax system. He will return after meeting with programmers to fine <br />turn the process. Steve, Elicia and I, along with Micro Venture Capital students Ming and <br />Luke, met with Jim Williams and Michael Weathers of Habitat for Humanity about a <br />possible partnership with them to re -hab houses using materials from demolished houses. <br />They are meeting with Chris Fielding and Shubhada Kambli tomorrow. <br />3 April Staff reports and revisions for COAs. Facade of State theatre on the <br />mezzanine level was spray painted with black graffiti. Contacted John Martinez to help <br />DTSB remove it. Spoke with Anne Montgomery about a grant that she is trying to put <br />together; she would like HPC Office to supply some "in- kind" manpower to help with the <br />match for the NRC "Inspire" Grant. <br />4 April 106 Review for Olive /Sample overpass. Meeting with Parks about the <br />conditions and challenges with City Cemetery: Rick, Alan from Parks, Steve Nemeth and <br />Derek Dieter met with Staff. Derek will investigate the $41,000.00 Trust Fund for City <br />Cemetery and contact Don Inks to see if TIF dollars are be used to secure the place. Steve <br />is concerned with the awful condition of three houses at the entrance gates: 211 N. Elm, <br />1119 W. Colfax and 1201 W. Colfax ... and 1241 W. Colfax is in very bad shape. Thinks <br />that these should be demolished and the area landscaped for a more inviting entrance to <br />the cemetery. Vandalism is still the #1 issue: last year 150 stones were defaced and Parks <br />could only restore 40. Copier malfunction. Informal meeting with Kathy Cekanski- <br />Ferrand about the Cemetery; also Shubhada Kambli about our problem child <br />neighborhoods. She would like a tour. <br />5 April Attended the Zimmerman Volk presentation on its assessment of "Who Wants to <br />Live Downtown." At the Northern Indiana Center for History. Basically a demographic <br />study for the revitalization of the core downtown area. Lori Volk was the speaker and <br />-_ _someone gave her a tour - of- the _Historic Districts... again HPC n ot _included. - Met wit <br />Cherri Peate the new Director of Community Outreach in the Administration and <br />explained to her what HPC does. Copier fixed and the Staff reports for the Commissioner <br />packets were ready for mailing. <br />8 April Mailings for meeting to homeowners and contractors. General Office work. <br />Contacted Landmarks about concerns expressed at the Landscaping Seminar about <br />Ziolkowski's use of a product on the Barker Mansion in Michigan City that is killing plants <br />and loosening mortar. Studied Anne Montgomery's proposal for use of HPC time for a <br />
