vo� A?rush Namt in Atlicatimr S �9'l6�" IN -Vent" Installation Instructions Cor -A Vent, Inc. on -the -roof Intake vent — Let's Fresh Air in when Soffits are Out® Step 1 Begin by cutting a 1 -inch wide slot or a series of 1 -inch diameter holes into the roof deck, 36 inches up from the drip edge. Do not cut the slotiholes any closer than 12 inches from the ends of the roof. Do not cut the slottholes any closer than 36 inches from any valley or 24 inches from any wall. Set saw blade depth accordingly to avoid damaging rafters or trusses. Ste[) 2 Install felt paper or ice & water shield on the roof as normal, but stopping at the slotiholes. Install shingles as normal up to slotiholes, trimming as needed to avoid covering the slot/holes. Lets fros6 air to 0600 soffftsors out Ste[) 3 Snap a chalk line 3 inches down from the bottom of the slotiholes. About 1 inch up from the chalk line, run a minimum''/." bead of flexible caulking. (Note: This bead of caulking will seal the IN -Vent to the roof — depending on the type of shingles, a wider bead may be needed to avoid gaps under the IN -Vent) Step 4 Starting at the chalk line, run a single 12" long bead of flexible caulk 3" in from and parallel to the gable end of the roof or where the end of the vent will be. Start at one end of the roof and tightly wrap the provided 12" x 12" IN -Vent End Cap section over the end of the first piece of IN - Vent (see photo at right). Set the vent and End Cap material in the 12" bead of caulk. Install the End Cap section smooth side out' and align the edge'of the End Cap section with the top edge of the IN Vent". Using the chalk line as your gauge, align the bottom edge of the IN- Vent on the chalk line and, with the 2 W roofing nails provided, nail down the vent every 12 inches, using the staples in the IN -Vent as your nail line. Also nail the top edge of the IN -Vent every 12 inches (roofing nail must be long enough to penetrate the roof deck). Install IN -Vent pieces continuously the. length of the roof and use another -End Cap section to close the opposite end. IN -Vent pieces should be installed at least 6 inches past the ends of the slot. Ste[) 5 Install a piece of felt paper or ice & water shield over the top of the IN - Vent, up onto the roof. Apply shingle starter strip to the edge of the IN - Vent and continue installing shingles over the rest of the roof. * - IN Vent End Cap sections feature a V -inhibitor coating on the smooth (shiny) side. Be sure to install these sections properly for Protection from harmful UV degradation. ** - If extra End Cap sections are needed, cut 12x12 pieces in half.
