Rating: Contributing DESCRIPTION OF STRUCTURE/ SITE: This Free Classic is a two storey frame house with wood clapboard siding with an irregular plan set upon a brick foundation. The roof is a cross gable that is covered with asphalt shingles. The windows are all vinyl replacement double hung windows. There is a full length front porch with wood floor, wood Doric columns, wood railings balustrades and lattice apron. ALTERATIONS: All of the windows were replaced with New Sunrise vinyl windows with COA #1999-0924-3 APPLICATION ITEMS: Constructing a steel shed in back of property. Shed to be removed when I would move. Please see attached documentation. DISCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: The renter of the house, Adam Ewing, has obtained the permission of the owner to construct a 20' x20' temporary shed. The walls and roof will be constructed of steel panels that will be bolted together for construction and de -construction when Adam moves. The doors will also be steel. The structure will be located at the rear of the property. It will house and protect a vintage car and lawn care equipment. STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES: C. SHEDS AND ACCESSORY BUILDINGS Accessory buildings are those structures that serve a specific subordinate function to the residence. These include garages and storage sheds and carriage houses. All of the accessory buildings are located in the rear yard. The carriage houses were designed in an architectural style related to the residence and were constructed at the same time as the residence. Required Accessory structures (gazebos, decks, playhouses, children's play equipment, etc.) shall be Located at the rear of the property and as unobtrusively as possible while preserving historic, relationships between the buildings, landscape features and open spaces. Proportions and materials shall conform to those required for new construction. Recommended Accessory building designs should be compatible in character and mood to the residence and the neighborhood. Prohibited Prefabricated metal sheds shall not be used. Not Recommended Prefabricated wood composition sheds should not be used unless they conform to all other standards. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the free standing metal shed located at the rear of the property as it conforms to the guidelines of the district.
