Director's Report February, 2012 24 January Prepared information on the Norfolk and Southern Landmarked Bridge for Chad Slider at the Indy DNR. Photographed bridge to send to Indy. On site inspection of East Wayne Street for damaged street light near Jacob Street that Commissioner Buccellato reported. 25 January Attended the Convention and Visitors Bureau luncheon at Legends with Elicia and Steve. Networked with CVB Staff and DTSB Staff discussed tours and potential district tours. 106 Review at 935 West LaSalle for Habitat project. Located damaged light post on EWS-lantern was missing. On site visit and photographs of doors at local landmark Emmaus Church on 929 Milton. Doors appear to have been altered with the addition of wood paneling. Noted that there was some badly re -pointed bricks on the south side and that a metal awning had been installed improperly causing the lintel to crack. Sent information to The Tiffany Group on local landmark 1601 Kemble. On sight visit with Steve to 1601 Kemble met with potential buyer Matt, owner Bruce and vinyl replacement window sales person. Advised them to restore the wood windows and use storm windows. 26 January Sent e-mail to Brian Haygood and Catherine Toppel about the burnouts and abandoned houses along LWE which boarder the Edgewater LHD. Also bcc'd Henry Davis and Cyd Maravolo. Mailed out the Sons Of Israel Synagogue National Register Nomination to Holly Tate at the DHPA. Provided contact information for James Cronk 232 7140 for the Studebaker Administration Building. Provided Matt Gingerich at 5 Star 574 825 4100,(matt@5starhouses.com) with website, Contractor listing and meeting/Coa dates for 1601 Kemble proposed work. Don and Darcy Troyer stopped in to make arrangements with Steve Szaday to tour the interior of Local Landmark 60649 Hickory Road. Brent Gregory called for information on 1304 S. Ironwood -Mishawaka; referred him to Ken Prince and the Genealogy Room. 27 January Attended Energy Sustainability Workshop at Logan Center for the morning with Elicia and Steve. Joint Presentation between IUSB, City of South Bend Department of Energy, I&M and Nipsco. Worked on Lynn Patrick's Common Council re- appointment to Commission. Met with Kathy Sobecki to clean up discrepancies in year end Location Report. 30 January Interviewed two intern candidates from Notre Dame School of Architecture with Elicia. Sent Bill Sniadecki the information on School Assessment from the Energy Workshop. E-mailed Ryan Dvorak and encouraged him to vote on HB 1111. Worked with Mark Lyons on the requirements for blade sign for Navarre Cafe on American Trust Building.
