CALL TO ORDER <br />President Klusczinski called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. <br />Members Present: Timothy S. CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS <br />1. 226 Hammond COA #2012 -0730 River Bend <br />No Representation <br />STAFF REPORT <br />CONCERNING APPLICATION FOR A <br />CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS <br />Date: 7 August 2012 <br />Application Number: 2012 -0730 <br />Property Location: 226 Hammond <br />Architectural Style/Date /Architect or Builder: Cross Gable Square /1903 <br />Property Owner: Mary Graham <br />Landmark or District Designation: River Bend <br />Rating: Contributing <br />DESCRIPTION OF STRUCTURE/ SITE: This is a 1 'h storey square building with a concrete foundation. The walls are <br />covered with aluminum siding. The Roof is a cross gable with returns and is covered with asphalt shingles. There is a full length <br />front porch with a brick foundation, half walls and tapered piers and brick wing walls. The porch roof is hipped and covered with <br />asphalt shingles. The windows are 1/1 double hung without storms. The attached carport was enclosed and is now failing. There <br />is a one storey addition with a shed roof in the rear. All of the doors appear to be replacements. <br />ALTERATIONS: Broken windows were replaced with COA 2002 -0311. The rear one storey addition with aluminum siding is <br />not original to the house. The attached car port was not original to the 1903 structure; it was enclosed and the aluminum garage <br />door was added. The aluminum siding is not original. All of the doors are replacements. The detached garage in the rear <br />collapsed in the winter of 1993 <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Replace front door with steel door. Take down side garage (car port), move electric meter from <br />garage to house, 3 feet. <br />DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: The homeowner wishes to replace the deteriorated wood front door with a new <br />steel door in a new frame to prevent further break -ins. Also proposed is to remove the failing flat roofed enclosed car port that is <br />falling down and to replace any siding on the house with siding from the enclosure or with siding to match. All debris will be <br />hauled away for disposal. The homeowner also will be removing the electric meter from its current location at the "garage" to the <br />house. <br />STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES: <br />V. GENERAL <br />A. Buildings in the district should not be demolished except where a building poses a threat to the public safety, and demolition is <br />the only alternative. Documentation of interior and exterior features of the original buildings, especially homes rated as <br />
