723 Park Ave <br />James & Rita tyden <br />Description of Proposed Work: <br />This work consists of the repair and removal of specific concrete steps and /or sections of sidewalk ;, <br />curb, and driveway apron to the east (front) of the house located at 723 Park Avenue in South Bend <br />in the Chapin Park Historic District. The work contemplated shall improve the safety of tile <br />entrance to the house (replacing cracked, sunken section of sidewalk and crumbling front step) as <br />well as enhance the overall sidewalk circulation to and from the house. The house, built ill 1888, <br />known as "Hodson's Castle" has been undergoing extensive interior and exterior repair and <br />restoration to combat years of neglect and to preserve this historic gem for the next 120 years. <br />All concrete work will meet or exceed specifications as described in local building codes to include <br />the Portland cement, joint filler, and admixtures. <br />'File following work will be completed: <br />• Demolish existing driveway apron in between street and existing Sidewalk (note: no <br />driveway exists) <br />• Repair existing concrete curb and install new concrete curb where driveway apron was <br />located <br />• Install sod where driveway apron was located <br />• Replace /repair existing crumbling concrete step in front of house (second step up from <br />ground level) <br />• Demolish and replace existing cracked sidewalk section (approx. TO section) <br />• Add new sidewalk section installed between the street and the existing sidewalk to <br />correspond to walk -up sidewalk to front steps (see attached pictures) <br />• Remove all debris from site <br />Location: This work will be located east of the house located at 723 Park Avenue, South Bend. The <br />east side of the house is the front, street - facing facade. <br />
