The roof is a hip roof with hip roof dormer covered in asphalt shingles. The exterior walls have <br />aluminum siding. The windows are double hung with the upper sash divided over a plain lower sash. There is an <br />open porch across the west third of the front faqade and a sun room <br />ALTEIUMONS: The survey card notes that the solid wood door was replaced and that the aluminum storm door <br />and windows are replacements. The vinyl siding is not original to the house. The roof was replaced with a COA <br />dated October 27, 1998. The garagewas replaced with CO.A2012-0503B. <br />APPLICATIONITEiMS: Fence installation by Schuell Fence. Replace chain link fence -,Nith wood or - vinyl <br />privacy fence. <br />DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: ' Tile owner proposes to remove the chain link fence and erect a 4 <br />foot high PVC picket fence between the rear of his house and the garage along the alley. He also is proposing to <br />erect a 6 foot high western picket wood privacy fence at the rear of his garage along the alley. BUILDING SITE, LANDSCAPING AND ACCESSORIES <br />Individual properties in the district are characterized by a house located in the center of a flat lawn, often divided by <br />a walk leading to the front entrance. Many properties have a straight driveway along one edge of the lot leading to a <br />garage at the rear of the house. This driveway often has a sidewalk along one side leading to the front entrance <br />either in the center or at the side of the house. Driveway and sidewalk materials include asphalt or concrete. All of <br />the properties have trees; many have trimmed shrubbery and hedges. All of the houses conform to a uniform <br />setback line within each block. <br />Required , <br />Existing plants, trees, fencing, walkways, streetlights, signs, and benches which reflect the properties' history and <br />development shall be retained. <br />Recommended 11 tographs, <br />New site work should be based upon actual knowledge of the past appearance of t lie property found in p o <br />drawings and newspapers. Plant materials and trees in close proximity to the buildings that are causing deterioration to the <br />building's historic fabric should be removed. <br />Prohibited <br />No changes may be made to the appearance of the site by removing old plants, trees. fencing, walkways, <br />outbuildings and other site elements before evaluating their importance to the property's history and development. <br />Front vard areas shall not be transformed into parking lots nor paved nor blacktopped. Front yard areas shall not be <br />fenced, Mth the exception of properties along Lincolnway, which may be fenced, but not with enclosed stockade- <br />type fencing. <br />Not Recommended <br />Telephone poles with high intensity overhead lights should not be used, with the exception of along Lincolnway. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION.: Staff recommends - approval as the project conforms to the guidelines for <br />Edgewater Place. <br />Catherine D.
