Director's Report <br />November, 2011 <br />19 October Researched Howard Park Fountain donated by Studebaker Family <br />for Gary Gilot and sent pictures for his reference. Volunteered to do a "virtual tour" of <br />South Bend for German Exchange students at the Library. Created PoNver Point <br />presentation for that event with Elicia. <br />20 October Finished Power Point Presentation and presented at Library to 50 <br />students, host families and teachers. General Oflice work and 2011 Budget wrap up. <br />Compiled the Marquette National Register Nomination and mailed to DHPA. <br />21 October General Office work. Payroll. Continued work on Budget. <br />Participated in a reception at the Conservatories thanking the contributors for die new floor <br />in the Muessel-Ellison between 5:00-7:00. <br />24 October Morning tour of East Wayne Street District on fi>ot with Elicia. <br />Afternoon tour on foot with Elicia of Chapin Park. Coordinated meeting on 27 October <br />with Dana Groves in New Carlisle to review transportation grant for the 106 process. <br />Issued RME for re -roof at 418 LaMonte. <br />25 October General Office work. Turned in Code Violation at 209 E. Navarre <br />for a roof without a permit. Attended Lunch and Learn. Met with Phil St. Claire and <br />Mike Dyszkiewicz who requested letter verifying BSSB grant of 060,000.00. Attended <br />Redevelopment Commission meeting about the properties HPC has an interest in: 803 W. <br />Washington (fagade Easement) and the Rushton (LL). The City will purchase 803 W. <br />Washington from John Freidline for 0441,000.00; John will then donate 030,000.00 plus <br />two years in taxes for Indiana Landmarks to take control of the building and do the repairs <br />and position it with investors or tenants. The City will also invest TIF funds in the Rushton <br />which will then be converted by South Bend Heritage in to low -moderate housing for 55 <br />year old residents; federal tax credits will be applied for this project. Todd mentioned <br />windowreplacement. I will meet with Marco Mariani to discuss this and get David Duval's <br />take on this. <br />26 October Prepared and delivered letters requested by Phil St. Claire for BSSB <br />concerning 2009 Grant. Received request from ND School of Architecture visiting <br />assistant professor, Selena Anders concerning the design for an archives building for the <br />SJC Library and joining her class for a walking tour on 7 November. Phone call from <br />Yavonne Corbet current owner of LL Yesterdays about the affect of the Granger sewer <br />wort: on her landmarked property; notably the installation of "grinder pumps". SHPO <br />said no historic properties affected. This happened last time with the highway expansion <br />on US23 because the SHPO thinks that the context and the interior of the house have <br />been altered too much. <br />27 October Contacted Jessica Clark, County Engineer and was referred to Bret at <br />Whiteman -Petri who sent me the file with the photographs.
