Kimberly and Matthew Bloom <br />Landmark or District Designation: East Wayne Street <br />Rating: Notable <br />DESCRIPTION OF STRUCTURE/ SITE: This two storey brick Tudor Revival home has the original <br />asbestos tile on the steep gable roof and steel casement windows with six lights and stationary transoms. <br />The windows have brick header course sills and brick soldier course lintels. There is a round arch entry in <br />the front gable with a brick corbelled door surround. There is a diamond brick pattern above the entry <br />door. A gabled wood canopy with brackets is above the side door and the chimney on the west side of the <br />house is brick with a stone cap. There is a one storey enclosed rear porch <br />ALTERATIONS: The enclosed back porch was a noted later addition to the house in the 1986 survey <br />card. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Demolish attached porch. Construct 2 -story addition in rear of home per <br />attached drawings. <br />MESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: This project will remove the rear enclosed porch that is <br />tot original to the house. A 2 storey addition will be constructed per drawings. The windows will be <br />Anderson 400 Series Casement windows to match original window configuration. The GAF Slateline <br />roofing material will compliment the current roofing material on the main house. The masonry materials <br />will match the brick and mortar of the original house; the window sills will be brick. All exterior trims <br />will match existing. A gabled rear entry in the new addition will match the style of the side entry. Please <br />refer to attached product information and drawings. <br />STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES: East Wayne Street Local Historic District <br />III. NEW CONSTRUCTION <br />New construction includes any new building or structure constructed within the boundaries of the historic district, <br />or any new addition to an existing building. New construction should be designed considering the appearance of the <br />other buildings in the neighborhood. <br />A. HEIGHT AND PROPORTION <br />The majority of structures in the district are two stories high and are square, rectangular, or irregular in plan. There <br />are a few story -and -a -half residences. The prevalent facade proportions are between a 1:1 and a 1:2 height -to -width <br />ratio. <br />Required <br />The height of anew structure and its height -to -width proportions shall be consistent with adjacent buildings in the <br />district. The building height shall be no greater than that of the tallest existing structure and no less than that of the <br />lowest existing structure of the same type in the same block. Facade proportions shall be established by permitting <br />no structure with a facade wider or narrower than those existing in the same block.
