South Bend, IN • New Construction • Remodeling Dear Members of the Commission: On behalf of Kevin and Joan O'Connor we are submitting application to rebuild an existing sunroom at the above stated property. The O'Connor's have done major renovations to the home at 53190 Juniper Rd. since first acquiring the property from family members in 2007. At that time The Historic Preservation Commission approved a garage addition to the east side of the home. The O'Connor's wish at this time is to renovate a badly deteriorating metal and glass structure that sits on a brick foundation. Our intent is to keep the existing brick foundation, and rebuild the upper portion with wood frame, flat top hip roof and casement windows. The rebuilt south wing would complement the north wing addition, and the main house in both window style and exterior materials. Brick exterior would remain the same, wood overhangs and window trim to match and roofing to match. The hip style flat roof allows for 2"d story windows to stay intact and roof pitch will match upper roof pitch for good appearance. Exterior wood trim will be painted white as all other trim. The brick foundation would be shortened in length to allow for the original 1s' floor double hung window to be visible again; this window to be refurbished to its original state. Casement windows in the new structure will be a true divided light or simulated divided light; not grills or removable grids. Exterior will be clad white with wood interior to be painted as all other interior trim.
