It has broad flat soffited overhangs. There is art <br />enclosed front porch surrounded by stucco piers facing the river. Tile windows are lit double hung with divided <br />upper light. There is a parte cochere at the west side main entrance. There is a detached 2 car garage with two sets <br />of double leaf wood doors with 8 light windows. <br />,* LTERA`I'IONS: Aluminum storms were added {C:'OA1981-11414). Rear and side foundation windows_ replaced <br />with vinyl windows (C'OA i 9114-0813)A two storey rear addition was built in 1989 that replaced a two storey porch <br />and vinyl beaded soffit was installed (COA1989-0110). The roofmaterial is not original to the house {C"OA 1()98- <br />0617) or the g aragc(COA 1999-1130). <br />APPLICATION ITENTS: Replace 90 year old garage door that rails off track when trying to operate -tried <br />repairing 2 years agcy at cost of 5250.00 but door remains inoperable. Have replaced garage floor. Remove about 5" <br />of sod to straighten drive Nvay and replace with concrete. Huild;'Construct roof over re:ir entry door in style of rear <br />bay window roof, proportional to doorway size, approximately 4'x4'. Replace the oarave doors with custom made 13'01'.9" hemlock <br />wood.doons resembling the original using Model 7412 "IDerby". Remove the 5-6" of sod bordering tapered <br />driveway and pour concrete to ac}neve:t rectangular, straight drive. ,At the rear of the house Oil the 1989 addition: <br />replace demolished concrete steps that deteriorated with wood stairs and landing; and railings. Construct a <br />4'X4"roof over tilt: dootivay and new steps that will resemble the roof over the: bump -out to p everit deterioration <br />from rain. Construct cedar steps with landing and banister in Prairie style with Prairie style caps on the post at the <br />rear door so that -steps .face the driveway. The C:'ortirnission shall encourage the proper maintenance, of all <br />structure or situs. <br />B, Treatment <br />Treatment shall be defined as anv change of surface materials that will not alter the style or original form. Such <br />improvements include re -roofing;, glazing, or landscaping lawns and may involve a chang;c that can potentially <br />enhance or detract from the character of he landmark. A treatment change of any surface whether on the landmark <br />or in its environment may require a Certificate of Appropriateness if it significantly alters the appearance of the <br />landrnark. Although these kinds of changes may not require a Building Permit, a Certificate cif Appropriateness <br />may be necessary. The commission should review the proposed treatment for character and style cemsi aency with <br />the; original surfaces. <br />_ <br />C. Renovation and Additions <br />Renovation is the modification of a structure, whicli sloes not :alter the ggeneral massing while and addition, is a <br />change in mass. A modification, which involves the removal of a part of the landmark, should be considered under <br />demolition (see demolition). <br />
