14 March Participated in the Northern Indiana Center for History Finance <br />Committee. Met with new archivist, Kristen, prior to the meeting to review the Slacks. <br />Completed registration for the Historic Places Conference in Indy. Researched <br />Information on 1723 South Bend Avenue for Chris Gasko. Sent Contractor listings to <br />Simon and Joel Barrett. Researched inquiry about the Cafe Navarre in the American trust <br />Building. Contacted homeowners at 1515 E. Wayne via c -mail and 1130 E. Jefferson by <br />letter concerning Asplundh tree removal. Firmed up meeting with West North Shore <br />residents for 15 March. <br />15 March 7:30 Rotary Board Meeting. Attended 10:00 am CouIIty Commissioners <br />meeting for approval of travel and transportation expenses for the April 6-8 Conference. <br />Attended Patrick Furlong's lecture on the Rise and Decline of South Bend. Prepared <br />information on the Erosion abatement plan for West North Shore, recommended trees <br />listing; collected information about restoration of street. light posts from Russ Luchies <br />versus replication. Attended the 6:30 p.m. West North Shore neighborhood meeting with <br />Elicia Feasel that included Carl Littrell and Gary Gilot. It was a very productive meeting <br />key issues addressed were trallic, erosion, trees and street lighting. Of the nineteen <br />occupied homes in West North Shore, 17 homeowners were present. Also discussed the <br />CSO 25 cabinet on W. North Shore that. concerned the Dvoraks, Baurer-Mc Connells <br />among other neighbors and spoke with Gary Gilot afterward. <br />16 March Sent an e-mail to Patrick Henthorli about the CSO25 box being so visibly <br />ugly when the COA required screening. Spoke with Dave Switzer, I&M/ALP on a contact <br />person at I&M for the light post issue; he referred me to Bruce Griffcy 574.596 4871 (cell) <br />and Jonathan Burkc of the City. Dave explained that I&M has been working with Public <br />Works to try to have Historic lighting in districts -but there are at least 12 different styles of' <br />light fixtures and nothing ever was resolved. However, since East Nllayiic and West North <br />Shore have similar light posts there may be some economics to creating a replica with <br />concrete and modern coatings. HPC can look into grant possibilities as well. 'Poured the <br />new Transpo Headquarters -Platinum LL'ED certified facility. Worked on 1114 L. Wayne <br />window issue and o -mailed Commissioners; homeowner, Dr. Jennifer Lackinan, and <br />mailed hard copies of Information to her. Contacted Lance Rouse oII the status of the <br />order. Research 1723 South Bend Avenue with Chris Gasko, 011ice did not have <br />information as It was IIot part of the City. <br />17 March Prepared the presentation for Lunch and Learn. Presented Industrialist <br />Neighborhoods at Lunch and Learn and answered questions. Spoke with Patricia Gable <br />afterwards; visited her address and two oII Colfax that had a similar feature oI a \window In <br />the chimney, researched her house at 3102 Miami to determine if Austin and Sliambleau <br />designed it. Emailed her that we could not verify it. Received an e-mail From Jennifer <br />Inickman requesting the Contractor Listing, sent an e -copy. Spoke with Lance Roush of <br />Quality Glass about her windows and learned that the order had not been placed and will <br />not be placed until the Commission approves it. <br />
