13. Grants - <br />Historic Preservation Education Grants 2011 -Meeting at DSTB to discuss <br />applying for this grant to expand the "Downtown South Bend Architecture <br />Walking Tour". Begin gathering for grant paperwork. Meeting with Tamara of <br />DTSB to go over budget and grant paperwork. Correspondence with Cynthia <br />Otsl of OnCell regarding a cell phone tour. Follow up with DTSB with action items <br />from meeting with Tamara. Assisting DTSB with substance for grant application. <br />Review and comment on draft to DTSB. <br />14. Toured 1302 High Street, historic: Wells-Kreighbaum Mfg Co/Shidler Bros Mfg <br />Co, current: LangLab (artist residency). Provided representative Dave Hurley <br />with information about an industrial building documenting grant and tax credits. <br />Considering a windows workshop in this space with 300+ windows; Larry Meteiver <br />says, "I see no problem doing a window workshop at a for profit business. The <br />workshop benefits us. The benefit to the business is secondary." Sent letter <br />owner, Rami to follow up and inquire about collaboration. <br />15. Assisting Travis Childs of the Center for History with research on the "seedy" <br />side of South Bend/Mishawaka. <br />16. East Washington Street National Register Historic District -Researching about <br />Campus Housing at South Bend. Sent a cry for help to the National Trust forum <br />and the NAPC forum. Reviewing comments. Correspondence with Mark Lyons <br />of Building Department regarding sign code. <br />17. Walk Along West Washington -Forwarding brochure and podcast to Jeff <br />Gibney, Ciiy of South Bend. <br />18. Preserving Historic Places: Indiana's Statewide Preservation Conference - <br />Received scholarship to attend. Registering for program. Inquiring about lodging. <br />Prepare letter to County Commissioner's to request permission. <br />19. Assist Sue Solmos with research on first African American inhabitants of St. <br />Joseph County. <br />20. Assembling 4 realtor packets for Sue Solmos, including LHD guidelines and <br />brochures. <br />21. Assembling a care packet for the 365 Things to do in South Bend bloggers, <br />including brochures and tour books. <br />22. Report to owners of 53190 Juniper Road on the date of Landmarking on their <br />house. <br />23. Owner of house on Sherman stopped in office to discuss her exterior paint <br />project. Copied survey card for her. Looking into assistance. <br />24. Preparing a Restore Michiana article to be included in the City Newsletter. <br />After talking with Mikki Dobski, decided to hold off until next month. <br />2 <br />
