windows cannot be open which is also a safety issue. One upstairs
window has cracked glass.
- Current remaining windows are not energy efficient and thus not
environmentally. responsible which is of great concern to owner. New
windows will have energy efficient insulated glass(Low E II with argon)
- Current windows do not match the other half of windows on the
house. Owner wishes to protect the considerable investment made in
this property by having windows all match architecturally and from a
maintenance standpoint. True divided light windows are cost
prohibitive. '
Materials /contractor: Quality Windows, lnc was chosen because they
are BBB accredited with an A+ rating and is a distributor of Marvin
windows. In owner's research Marvin windows are highly rated
including recipient of JD Powers award for quality. In discussion with
neighbors, Marvin SDL windows have been used extensively in the
Wayne Street historic neighborhood. The grid patterns(2X4 downstairs
and 2X3 upstairs) will match the original windows(and in 5 cases will
restore the look of muntins to window sashes that were replaced with
solid glass without muntins by a previous owner). The appearance of
the new windows will be identical as viewed from the street. Interior
casing and stools will remain.
