Young <br />Property Owner: Cole Hay <br />Landmark or District Designation: Chapin Park <br />Rating: Outstanding <br />DESCRIPTION OF STRUCTURE/ SITE: The 2 storey frame house with a south bay <br />has an irregular plan set upon a brick foundation. It has a cross gable roof with moulded <br />rake and 3 -tab asphalt shingles. There is a small shed dormer on the central gable. The <br />windows are nine -light casements in the front with 3 light transoms. The bay has 9/1 <br />double hung windows. The front door is a wood panel door from the 1916 re -model with <br />round light and arched lintel and decorative metalwork and hinges. There are some <br />original wood storm windows and aluminum storm windows. <br />ALTERATIONS: The facade of the house was remodeled into a cottage style from a T <br />plan with curved side wraparound porch and Doric columns above the knee wall. The 1/1 <br />double hung windows were replaced with casements in the front and 6/1 in the rest of the <br />house. The bay area was added in 1916 with 9/1 windows. The original wood roofing <br />shingles have been replaced with asphalt shingles. The metal awing over the front entrance <br />noted in the 1987 survey card has been removed. The aluminum storm windows are <br />modern additions.. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Tear off existing 3 tab and replace with "architectural" overlay <br />roofing shingles. Also would like to use ridge vent if possible. <br />DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROTECT: A complete tear off and re -roof with <br />architectural shingles and with the installation of a ridge vent for ventilation from the attic <br />spaces. <br />STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES: <br />B.
