Hostetler, Director <br />Members of the Public: Jason Marriott <br />PUBLIC HEARING: <br />STAFF REPORT <br />CONCERNING APPLICATION FOR A <br />CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS <br />Date: September 29, 2010 <br />Application Number: 2010-0929 <br />Property Location: 824 Forest <br />Architectural Style/Date/Architect or Builder: Side-gabled/Free Classic/1895/Fred <br />Keller, Builder <br />Property Owner: Victoria Hyland <br />Landmark or District Designation: Chapin Park <br />Rating: Notable <br />DESCRIPTION OF STRUCTURE/ SITE: The 21/2 storey frame house has an <br />irregular plan set upon a brick foundation. It has a gable roof with dormers covered with <br />three tab asphalt shingles. The dormers have wood shingles in the gables. The walls are <br />wood clapboard with corner -boards, base trim and moulded cornice. There is a full -width <br />front porch with wood Doric columns. The porch has a wooden porch floor and ceiling. <br />The windows are 1/1 double hung on the first floor; small 4/1 casement windows on the <br />southwest corner and 16/1 on the second floor. The windows have aluminum storms. <br />ALTERATIONS: The aluminum storm windows and the asphalt roof are not original to <br />the house. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Tear -Off and shingle <br />DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: The current roofing is leaking due to <br />an improperly installed asphalt shingle roof. The proposal is to do a complete tear off <br />and repair of the decking install flashing and to re -roof the entire house with architectural <br />Timberline Shingles. The contractor will also replace deteriorated moulding. <br />
