Side gabled slate roof <br />with returns. Simple entablature with block modillions. Three hip roof dormers. 6/1 double hung windows with <br />brick soldier course lintels and brick header course sills. Louvered shutters. Central cncloscd brick entry. Full <br />entablature and block modillion detail extends over brick stoop, supported by fluted pilasters and columns. Leaded <br />glass side lights and transoms. Brick quoins and brick header belt course at second floor line. One storcy flat roof <br />enclosed wing with casement windows with stationary transoms. Attached brick two car garage with flat roof with <br />simple entablature and cornice. Rcar flat roof porch. Brick chimney with stone caps. <br />ALTERATIONS: Enclosed wing. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Replace windows evidencing mold contamination, replace windows that are missing <br />and broken beyond repair with Anderson 400 series. <br />DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: Homeowner wishes to replace 33 original windows in house. 4 <br />of the 33 windows in the house arc missing the lower sashes; the missing windows are located on the 3`d storcy <br />North side bedroom and 2"d storey West side bath. Homeowner has an urgent need to replace those 4 windows, as <br />small children occupy the home. There are about 6-10 storm windows in existence, however, they do not .fit on the <br />windows. The existing kitchen windows on the South side are double hung and the replacement proposal is to <br />install casement windows. Wayne Doolittle, HPC Preservation Specialist/Inspector visited the house to inspect the <br />windows; per Wayne's observation, he cannot make the mold determination, the HPC would recommend the <br />Health Department. Wayne states that the windows are not deteriorated beyond repair. Steve Schoberg of Schoberg <br />Restorations inspected the windows as well and observed that the original windows could be restored. Per <br />homeowner, the dormer windows, sunroom windows, and all of the windows around the front door will be retained, <br />re -glazed, lead remediated, and rc-painted. Big C Remodeling has quoted homeowner for replacement windows. <br />Per Tom Doyle of Bic C, all replacements will be installed from the exterior. Exterior casing will be clad in <br />aluminum and painted to match existing. Contractor will insulate the interior weight pockets. Muntins (referred to <br />as grilles) will likely be between the glass for case of cleaning, however, more dimensional options are available <br />with this replacement series. Richard Spicglmcycr of Replacement Systems International will be inspecting the <br />windows and homeowner will report on his inspection to HPC staff. <br />STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES: East Wavne Street: <br />II. EXISTING STRUCTURES <br />C. WINDOWS AND DOORS <br />Window and door frames are of wood or steel (some casements) or in the case of brick structures, stone sills and <br />brick lintels. Where metal or vinyl siding has been applied, window trim has been covered. Storm windows are of <br />wood or aluminum. <br />Required <br />Original windows and doors shall be retained including sashes, lintels, sills, shutters, decorative glass, pediments, <br />hoods, and hardware. When deteriorated beyond repair, they shall be replaced with units and trim resembling the <br />original. <br />Recommended - <br />
