SITE.: The two storevTudor of brick with half tirnbcr and stucco <br />wall -features has a rectangular plan and a gable roof with a slight flair at the eaves. The roof is covered <br />with asphalt shingles. There are casement windows throughout the house with brick header course sills <br />on the brick facades. There is a half timber and stucco shed dormer in the front faq-ade and there is an <br />extended front entrance with steep gable roof and stucco walls with a door in the center flanked by <br />lanterns. <br />ALTERATIONS: In 1988 a I Ox 14 foot two storey addition was added to the rear of the <br />liouse(COA 1988-0815); the roof was replaced in 1998 (COA#1 998-0916) and the screened in porch was <br />added in 2007 (COA4'2007-0906). The windows are replacement windows. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: We want to replace the -replacement windows that are poor quality in our <br />home with Pella casement windows. Two windows (interior) that are casement in the rear we would like <br />to replace with double liun,(,-,, <br />DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED 1IR03ECT: In 1988 the NORCO windows were installed. <br />Currently the windows are failing and deteriorated; one kitchen window's glass has recently disintegrated <br />C> <br />and needed to be replaced. The homeowners wish to replace the NORCO windows with PELLA wood <br />casement windows that will have aluminum exterior cladding located on the second floor. The windows <br />on the second floor will be replaced with casement windows that will match the existing; the front double <br />casements will be replaced with grid patterns to match the originals. The two casement windows that <br />were on the exterior and are now enclosed in the screened in porch are to be replaced with double hung <br />windows so people don't hit their heads on the casements. The exterior aluminurn cladding will match the <br />exterior trim on the house. <br />STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES: East Wavne Street: <br />C. WINDOWS AND DOORS <br />Window and door frames are of wood or steel (some casements) or in the case of brick structures, stone sills and <br />brick lintels. Where metal or vinyl siding has been applied, window trim has been covered. Storm windows are of <br />wood or aluminum. <br />Required <br />Original windows and doors shall be retained including sashes, lintels, sills, shutters, decorative glass, pediments, <br />hoods, and hardware, When deteriorated beyond repair, they shall be replaced with units and trim resemblingthe <br />original. <br />Recommended <br />Wood frame storm windows and doors painted to match the original should be used but should not damage existing <br />frames. If new sashes or doors are installed, the existing or original materials, design, and hardware should be used. <br />When metal storni doors are used, they should be painted, anodized or coated to match the existing. When awnings <br />are used they should be of canvas material. <br />Prohibited <br />Original doors, windows and hardware shall not be discarded when they can be restored and re -used in place. New <br />window and door openings which would alter the scale and proportion of the building shall not be introduced, <br />
