Director's Report July, 2010 June 21 Reviewed BZA Agenda for July 7. 702 E. Jefferson in the Howard Park NRD is -up for a Special Exception to allow for a lounge and restaurant. HPC meeting 7- 8:30 p.m. June 22 Created and mailed out five of the approved COAs, copies to Preservation Specialist for follow up, luncheon with Maryanne Black from Congressman Donnelly's Office. Investigated replacement/repair of defective Office micro cassette recorder. Responded to DTSB's request for a mini architectural tour during First Fridays and films on the gridiron. Completed eight 106 reviews. June 23 Arranged to meet with DTSB and IL at 10:00 on Thursday about the architectural tours. Contacted Ken Hebard owner of the Tower Building about including that site for an interior tour and "slide rides" for these tours. He declined citing renovation work. Worked on budget projections for 2010 and 2011 fee revenues. Contacted Tim Walls of Herceg about COA for work on 1897 Court House. Completed RMEs to date for June. Contacted Public Works about combined sewer work in Edgewater Place LHD learned it is not affecting the landmark on Monroe or its trees as the homeowners reported. June 24 Meeting with DTSB, HPC and IL about developing a guided walking tour of South Bend to be given by Catherine and Todd before the Movies on the Gridiron. June 25 Participated in golf outing for County Commissioner Dave Thomas at Whispering Pines in North Liberty. June 28 On-site visit to 1322 E. Wayne N. to photograph house, leave COA applications and information for the Wolosins. Also spoke with neighbor, Mrs. Lennon, about her concerns for the neighborhood because people won't buy homes because of the LH District. Reviewed with her the facts on the situations she thought she was familiar with. On site visit to new homeowner at 1214 E. Wayne S. Julie and Art Toth are working with Steve Schoberg about their windows. Staff documented the non -original windows in the house that will be replaced with better windows in the style of the originals. Also landscaping issues because the yard is very overgrown and crowded. Left a copy of the Standards along with COA information. On site visit to 1733 E. Wayne for Routine Maintenance Exclusion documentation for repair rebuilding of deteriorated brick and concrete porch. Spoke with Barry from South Bend Roofing on work proposed for SJC land -marked school at 66984 Pine Road. Scheduled on-site meeting for 1:30 Friday, July2. June 29 On site visit to 66984 Pine Road to update file and photographs prior to Friday's meeting.
