Wayne Street LUD <br />Rating: Contributing <br />DESCRIPTION OF STRUCTURE/ SITE: This is a two storey frame Colonial Revival home <br />with a rectangular plan, flared gable asphalt shingle roof with three gable inset dormers at the <br />front. The porch roof extended from the main roof supported by square box columns with mold <br />trim as capital. There is a central entry with sidelights. There is a two car garage wing with <br />molded trim cornice, wood balustrade on the flat roof. <br />ALTERATIONS: Enclosed arched area at rear garage was noted on survey card. Raised <br />deck added in rear of house off of rear arched porch. Removal of 4 non -conforming pine <br />trees in front of house and 1 deciduous tree in tree lawn approved by Commission <br />September, 15, 2008. Addition of rear bay area on second storey approved by Commission <br />in November 17, 2008. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Renovation of kitchen to include the replacement of existing rear <br />entry porch (demolition) with a new +/- 80 square foot interior dining porch/mud room. * Note: <br />New dining porch to re -use existing footing/foundation wall of existing basement access door <br />bulkhead. <br />DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: Per drawings and photographs provided by the <br />homeowners (Drawings 1-4 and photosl-4) this project will remove/demolish non -original rear <br />porch and composite wood platform to the original footings and basement door bulkhead <br />foundation wall. The basement door and entry no longer exist. They then propose to construct an <br />enclosed dining area addition within that footprint. The exterior will be clad in cedar shingles to <br />match the original house with cedar pilasters and entablature details to match the pilasters at the <br />front porch. Flat roof extension with integral gutter to match existing with all exterior trim at box <br />cornice to match existing. Install new Marvin Wood ultimate double hung cottage style windows <br />6/9 with simulated divided lites and wood screen to match existing and a Marvin Wood Ultimate <br />out -swing French Door all per specs provided in Spec pages 1-7. <br />STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES: <br />III. NEW CONSTRUCTION <br />New construction includes any new building or structure constructed within the boundaries of the <br />historic district, or any new addition to an existing building. New construction should be designed <br />considering the appearance of the other buildings'in the neighborhood. <br />
