Stapp for <br />Whitcomb and Keller <br />Property Owner: Elizabeth and Mark Adey <br />District Designation: East Wayne Street <br />Rating:. Contributing <br />DESCRIPTION OF STRUCTURE/ SITE: 1216 E. Wayne North is a two storey frame home <br />with a brick fagade and an irregular floor plan set on a matching brick foundation. There is a <br />gable roof with gable returns with cornice molding and an eyebrow dormer. The roofing is <br />asphalt shingle. There is a multi -pane half -round attic window. The windows are 8/1 and 6/1 <br />double hung windows that have brick soldier course lintels and brick header course sills; some <br />with paneled wood shutters with a tree motif. The front entry has gable roof with round arch <br />under supported by brackets and smooth Doric columns; the front door is rounded with simple <br />wood trim. There is a one storey side open porch with a flat roof supported by smooth Doric <br />columns. <br />ALTERATIONS: There is a rear one storey 8'x12' addition with a shed roof that was built in <br />1955. The brick is slightly different than that of the house. There appears to be some window <br />openings that were re -configured and bricked in. The survey card noted aluminum storm <br />windows and some replacement windows. The side porch is open and no longer has screens noted <br />in the August, 1986 survey card and were removed sometime after 1995. There are COAs (2004- <br />9) in file for in kind replacement and repair work to porch, in-kind window replacement, garage <br />roof and rear fencing. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Proposed Work (Architect: Bill Lamie) 1. The removal/demolition <br />of the 1955 addition to the rear of the house. (a) pictures attached. 2. On the rear of the house <br />the construction of a new one story 12'8" by 30'8" addition, it will almost span the width of the <br />read of the house. (Offset slightly on each end). The new construction will be brick with <br />casement windows and pilasters at the corners. The roof of the new construction will be flat in <br />appearance. A portico roof will cover the rear entry. (a). East Elevation attached, (b) south <br />elevation attached, (c) floor plan attached, (d) separate plans for portico roof over rear entry <br />attached. 3. Construction materials: (a) Brick/Mortar-nearest possible match to the original brick <br />on the house, (b) Windows -casement windows with dimensional divided lights: similar to other <br />historic homes in the neighborhood -Marvin brand -documentation attached, (c) portico columns - <br />composite material that will match the columns on the covered porch on the west side of the <br />house. See South Elevation and Portico Plans, (d) Door -6 divided lights over a smooth panel - <br />custom designed Marvin Luminary collection door, (E) lighting -historically correct colonial <br />revival lighting in the ceiling of the portico. 4. Replacement: if necessary the double hung <br />window at the center of rear of the house will be shortened and replaced. (it is over the currently <br />rear entry -see photo) (a) there is a possibility that the roof of the new construction will interfere <br />10 <br />
