Not Recommended Awnings, hoods, and fake shutters made of metal, vinyl, or fiberglass should not be used if they would detract from the existing character or appearance of the building. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: The staff had inspected these windows in 2007 from the interior and the exterior. There was considerable deterioration. See photographs Series 1. The appearances of most of the windows have been cosmetically improved with paint and some have been permanently closed, but are still deteriorated. See Photographs Series 2. Staff recommends approval of the window replacements for the entire house. The HIPC has routinely approved replacement of casement windows in the East Wayne District even when the windows are not deteriorated beyond repair. The current windows are in very bad shape and the replacement windows will be an improvement to the house. Petitioner agreed to install the Quaker window product shown to the HPC.
