SPECIAL MEETING OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />July 27, 2009 <br />1:05 pm, Dickinson Conference Room, St. Joseph Co. Public Library <br />304 S Main Street <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />President Klusczinski called the meeting to order at 1:16 p.m. <br />Members attending: Jerry Niezgodski, Lynn Patrick, Linda Riley, Timothy Klusczinski, Todd Zeiger <br />Staff attending: Catherine Hostetler <br />The purpose of the meeting was to review the displays that Todd Zeiger, David Sassano and <br />Linda Riley observed on-site at Monroe school on July 23, 2009 with members of the School <br />Corporation and the architectural firm; and to render decision regarding those, including: the slate <br />sample presented, the SW 7037 option for the coating of limestone, and the slate blue option on <br />the windows. Color photographs depicting those displays were presented for consideration. <br />Commission Zeiger verified that the photographs accurately reflect what was presented at that site visit <br />except for a window shown in a photo which represents the color choice, but not the specific window <br />choice. Commissioner Zeiger also verified that the consensus of those that conducted the site visit was that <br />the color choices were appropriate and, in the case of the limestone coating, the color choice was is more <br />reflective of genuine limestone rather than the stark white color which is extant. At the site visit, the ' <br />architectural firm distributed the line drawings of the windows as requested. Director Hostetler emailed <br />those drawings and hard copies were distributed. <br />Motion to approve "Gravel Gray, #2127-30* of the Benjamin Moore Color Preview Line: <br />Moved: Zeiger Second: Riley <br />Vote: 5-0 <br />*Commissioner Zeiger asked that the minutes reflect that this color choice is the result of the paint analysis <br />done by the School Corporation, and that this color best matches what was identified as the historic color <br />on the building. <br />Motion to approve the masonry coating for the base pre -cast concrete and around the windows `Balance(d) <br />Beige', #SW 7037 manufactured by Sherwin Williams: <br />Moved: Riley Second: Patrick <br />Vote: 5-0 <br />Motion to approve faux slate `recipe' or pattern/percentage/mixture as presented while communicating a <br />preference to the architect that the HPC preference is to remove the off white slates and replace them with <br />light gray: <br />Moved: Zeiger Second: Riley <br />Vote: 5-0 <br />As of this meeting, the HPC is still waiting for a report on the scientific analysis of the charcoal gray paint <br />chip. <br />Motion to adjourn: <br />Moved: Patrick Second: Riley <br />Vote: 5-0 <br />Attest: <br />q t <br />Da <br />Secretary <br />
