Celebrate good works of responsible preservation in South Bend and St. Joseph County. <br />Provide educational content to residents of South Bend and St. Joseph County by inviting <br />recognized professionals to present keynote address. <br />Facility rental fee benefits local venue- always held in a historic building. <br />Catering and other purchased services (printing, promotion, etc.) benefit local economy. <br />Reinforces sense of community among residents of historic districts and landmarks. <br />Lincoln Highway Association National Conference — June 16-20, 2009 <br />Partner in the 17th annual national conference celebrating the Lincoln Highway and all of <br />the historic assets along this famous route. HPC is providing a speaker (by LHA <br />invitation) for this conference. <br />Audience: <br />Conference is promoted nation-wide so attendees may come from anywhere in the US, <br />local dignitaries and residents are also invited and encouraged to attend. <br />Benefits: <br />Strengthen the preservation ethic in South Bend/St. Joseph County, as recognized by our <br />Preserve America Community designation. <br />Provide educational content to residents of South Bend and St. Joseph County. <br />Celebrate our unique local history. <br />Conference will generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue for the local economy. <br />Create visibility for South Bend as a destination for heritage tourism. <br />Promote South Bend's historic assets and unique position on the Lincoln Highway. <br />Support designation of the Indiana leg of the Lincoln Highway as a Scenic Byway availing federal <br />grant monies and other project support. <br />Other notes: <br />Other event partners include: Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, SB Regional Airport, <br />USDOI, Indiana DHPA, Indiana Community and Rural Affairs, Indiana Main Street, Studebaker <br />National Museum, Center for History, National Park Service, Lincoln Bicentennial, AM <br />General. <br />Glorious George Awards — Summer 2009 <br />An award program that recognizes outstanding efforts in outdoor d6cor and landscaping in <br />historic districts or at landmark sites. Nominees are recommended by neighbors, and inspected <br />by HPC staff for award designation. <br />Audience: <br />All residents of local historic districts and landmarks. <br />Benefits: <br />Strengthen the preservation ethic in South Bend/St. Joseph County, as recognized by our <br />Preserve America Community designation. <br />Celebrate good examples of thoughtful landscaping that helps to beautify South Bend and St. <br />Joseph County. <br />Reinforces sense of community among residents of historic districts and landmarks. <br />National Preservation Institute Workshop — September 15-17, 2009 <br />A three day workshop for preservation professionals on historic cemetery preservation and <br />maintenance. <br />Audience: <br />Workshop is promoted nation-wide so attendees may come from anywhere in the US. <br />Benefits: <br />
