Upcoming HPC Programs and Outreach Efforts <br />Workshop Wednesdays — Beginning February 2009 <br />Evening seminars featuring a specific topic: this winter's series: "Interior Matters". <br />Audience: <br />Anyone interested in the subject matter, all seminars are free and open to the public. <br />Benefits: <br />Strengthen the preservation ethic in South Bend/St. Joseph County, as recognized by our <br />Preserve America Community designation. <br />Provide educational content to residents of South Bend and St. Joseph County. <br />Increased visitorship to St. Joseph Co Library and Branch locations (sites of the event). <br />Promotion of local craftspersons/artists/contractors that might teach the seminars resulting in a <br />possible increase in interest or income for their business. <br />Downtown Walking Tour Project w/DTSB — Spring 2009 <br />Upcoming collaboration with DTSB to create walking tours highlighting points of historical interest <br />in downtown South Bend, resulting in printed materials and possible inclusion on DTSB website. <br />Audience: <br />Local residents and tourists either interested in exploring downtown, learning local history, <br />or both. <br />Benefits: <br />Strengthen the preservation ethic in South Bend/St. Joseph County, as recognized by our <br />Preserve America Community designation. <br />Provide educational content to residents of South Bend and St. Joseph County.. <br />Foster rapport between HPC and other local entities. <br />Increase foot traffic in downtown, providing visibility and revenue to locally owned downtown <br />businesses. <br />Purchased services (printing, promotion, etc.) benefit local economy. <br />Historic Preservation In -Service Day — March 13, 2009 <br />day seminar on the economic and civic benefits of preservation. <br />Audience: <br />Neighboring CLG staff and commissioners, Elected Officials, AIA, Building Trades, Code <br />Enforcement, Realtors, Building Department, Redevelopment, DTSB, NRC, NNN and other <br />CDC's, Neighborhood leaders. <br />Benefits: <br />Strengthen the preservation ethic in South Bend/St. Joseph County, as recognized by our <br />Preserve America Community designation. <br />Foster rapport between HPC, other government agencies, local professionals and elected <br />officials. <br />Promote heritage tourism and preservation as the economic stimulants that they are/can be. <br />Educate realtors to the benefits of promoting and selling homes in local historic districts. <br />Provide educational content to other preservation professionals in the area. <br />Catering and other purchased services (printing, promotion, etc.) benefit local economy. <br />
