has some congregants and officials concerned about the cemetery's proximity to the soft <br />shoulder on the side of the road. While landmark status would not specifically dictate <br />set backs or other matters with any future road work, it will allow the HPC and the <br />church a voice in the conversation. <br />The cemetery fulfills criteria #2 in that it is the resting place of a number of prominent <br />families that helped to settle Madison Township. The burials also provide information <br />and context about religious reformation as the burials reflect the time both before and <br />after this German community divided between the Lutheran and Reformed religious <br />communities.
