South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - June 20, 1997
6. NEW BUSINESS (CONT.)
b. continued....
located at the corner of Main Street and
Jefferson Boulevard and a 650 space City
owned parking garage. The parking
garage will also include approximately
11,000 square feet of retail space fronting
Michigan Street. The total project cost is
estimated at over $20 million, while the
Trammell Crow portion of the project is
estimated at $6.5 million.
Since this is an office development, the
petitioner is unable to determine the exact
number of new jobs that will be created as
a result of the project. However, they have
indicated that between 100 and 150
construction jobs will be created to
complete the project. Also, it is estimated
that between 180 and 225 people will be
employed by the tenants of the new
building.
A review of the tax abatements previously
granted finds that the South Bend
Redevelopment Commission for the
benefit of Trammell Crow MW, Inc. has
not been granted any previous tax
abatement consideration. The building
commissioner has reviewed the petition
and finds the property to be properly
zoned for the proposed project.
A review of the tax abatement designation
maps finds that the property is located in
the Tax Abatement Impact Area, as well as
the Central Business District. A review of
the South Bend Redevelopment Allocation
C
