Lafayette Boulevard <br />South Bend, IN. 46601 <br />RE: Project Description Brief <br />Addition and Renovations to Monroe School Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Mrs. Hostetler: <br />After recognizing your concern in preparing a description for your commission members' information package, I <br />submit the following abbreviated description for your use: <br />Building Exterior Elevation/Facade Renovation: <br />• Remove, patch and repair, and recoat the existing limestone base and wall opening <br />surrounds; Proposed Product Elastomeric Coating system: Specified Manufacturer: <br />Euclid Chemical: Tammscoat (Color chart submitted) <br />• Main and Second Level Window Replacement: Historic window replication style with <br />thermal break, matching mutin pattern to existing windows and insulated glass (including <br />lead pattern at existing and original locations); see Sheets A-4.0 through A-4.5: Window <br />Manufacturers and Series specified: Wausau Heritage Series, Traco 590 Series, <br />Graham 7600 Series, Moduline Renaissance 32E Series; A window and glass sample <br />will be presented at the commission meeting. <br />• The entry doors and storefronts will be retained, but new hardware sets will be installed. <br />Wood egress doors will be replaced. <br />• Masonry veneer and coping will be repaired where damaged due to weathering; See <br />Sheets A-4.0 thru A-4.4. Matching face brick will be used when salvaged brick is <br />exhausted. Brick samples will be presented at the commission meeting. <br />• The sloped slate shingle roof and deteriorated flashing and gutter system will be <br />replaced. The scope of includes an overbuild with lightgage metal framing to and <br />plywood decking to provide a smooth substrate for installation of the synthetic shingles. <br />Shingle manufactures will not warrant their product if installed on the current roof deck. <br />Proposed product is a composite synthetic slate looking shingle; Specified <br />manufacturers: DaVinci, EcoStar, Insprire; literature has been submitted; a sample board <br />will be presented at the commission meeting. <br />Site Renovation and Development: <br />New visitor drive and parking spaces in the front of the building; Some trees including <br />those that have reached lifecycle/diseased will be removed; new trees will be planted <br />along the street and in the law area; Refer to Sheets C-2.0, C-4.0 and L-1.0; a computer <br />rendering looking at the front entry from Donmoyer Ave. has been submitted; <br />New concrete sidewalks will be installed replacing deteriorate walks, aligning walks for <br />foot traffic and adjusting slopes for handicapped compliance. <br />Hebard & Hebard Architects, InC.107 North Eddy StreetSouth Bend, Indiana 46617 <br />Phone: 574-234-8907 Fax: 574-234-8908 e-mail: hebardarchitects.com <br />
