2. Director — Catherine Hostetler <br />Distributed to Commission. <br />4. Assistant Director — Amy Herdman <br />Distributed to Commission, including copy of W Washington Walks brochure. <br />5. Legal Counsel — Larry Meteiver <br />Reviewed the Common Council decision of 5/12/2008 to sustain HPC denial of Professor <br />Enderle's C of A regarding 723 Park Avenue. The vote was decisive at 9-0 to sustain <br />denial. Counsel acknowledged the contributions of Director Hostetler and Commissioner <br />Klusczinski's testimony during the Common Council meeting. Counsel was also <br />resoundingly complimented for his work on the legal brief and testimony at the Council <br />meeting. <br />C. COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />1. President's Report — Tim Klusczinski <br />04/22: Meeting at HLFI to discuss the Marquette Feasibility Analysis and costs. <br />04/25: Met with officials from the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance regarding local <br />landmark buildings (Marquette and Monroe Schools) now under consideration for construction projects. <br />Others present: Catherine Hostetler, Bill Latoza (BauerLatoza Studio), Paul Hayden (HLFI), <br />administrators and legal representation for the SBCSC. Dr. Robert Zimmerman, Superintendent of the <br />SBCSC, hosted brief walking tours of each facility. At the completion of the tours, DLGF Commissioner <br />Musgrave asked the SBCSC and architects Hebard & Hebard to collaborate with BauerLatoza Studio. <br />The purpose of this joint effort would be to investigate alternate design solutions for the existing <br />Marquette that would enable it to satisfy the current educational objectives for the proposed Montessori <br />program. Final reports from this architectural committee are due in 30 days. <br />04/29: The HPC Advisory Board Meeting was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts among the <br />membership. An alternate meeting date will be set in the near future. <br />05/04: Attended "Art & Community: Converging Paths" presented by Janis Martin at NSB. Ms. Martin <br />showcased her oil color exhibit and discussed her current project, which is adapting the Greene & Berkey <br />School Building (Goshen, IN) into a new open studio for local artists. HLFI provided assistance in the <br />effort to acquire and rehab the building. <br />05/09am:. Meeting with Todd Zeiger to discuss improvements to the C of A form. <br />05/09pm: Review of legal response/documentation with Larry Meteiver and Catherine Hostetler, relating <br />to litigation over the C of A #2008-0214 denial and the ensuing Common Council request for appeal. <br />05/12: Attended the Common Council meeting and provided testimony to challenge an appeal resulting <br />from HPC denial of C of A #2008-0214. Others present: Larry Meteiver, Catherine Hostetler, and Amy <br />Herdman. <br />05/15: Interviewed Catherine Hostetler about the C of A procedure, routing and archiving of records. <br />Briefly discussed improvements that could be considered for the forms and public hearing segments. <br />Historic Preservation Commission <br />Report on the C of A procedure — May 19th, 2008 <br />12 <br />
