Director's Report <br />May, 2008 <br />April 22 Met with Inn Keeper's concerning Calendar Project to coordinate with Walking <br />Tour. Presented to Common Council concerning the Conservatories. <br />April 24 Met with Randy Ray concerning the Sons of Israel Synagogue and the Center for <br />History's strategic plan. <br />April 25 Meeting with the Department of Local Government Finance Commissioner, <br />Cheryl Musgrave, Tony Samuel, Deputy Commissions, Chuck McLean, Control Board <br />Administrative Office, Mary Jane Michalak, Director of Communications, Bill Latoza of <br />BauerLatoza Studio along with Tim Klusczinski and Paul Hayden concerning Marquette School <br />and Monroe School. Luncheon meeting was followed by tours of both schools. Commissioner <br />Musgrave requested a joint proposal for Marquette from the architects to be on her desk by May <br />26 --later to May 27 because of holiday. <br />April 29 Contacted Frank I-Iurdis concerning National Register nomination of the <br />Synagogue and its eventual move. Russ Luchies concerning the status of the repairs on the <br />Birdsell Mansion chimineys. <br />May 2 LaPorte Historic homes and areas <br />May 5 Read names for Yom Hashoah in 1898 Courthouse. <br />May 9 Met with Larry Meteiver concerning the Enderle hearing before the Common <br />Council. <br />May 12 Center for History Finance Committee meeting. Common Council meeting for <br />the Enderle hearing. The Commission's decision was sustained by a unanimous vote. <br />May 13 County Council meeting for Budget appropriations and Preserve America <br />Resolution ratification. Both passed with unanimous votes. <br />May 14 Met with Kathy Sobecki concerning the proceeds from the sale of the City and <br />County Surveys and they should have their own line item. It was established and the money will <br />remain there as it is collected for the next survey publications. <br />May 15 National Association of Business Economists meeting of the Economics Club of <br />Michiana. Presentation on the changes to the Family Medical Leave Act by the Healy Group. <br />May 16 Evaluation of the Troyer Groups proposal of the changes to Intersection at <br />Western and Walnut. Received copy of Indiana Bridge Study to verify for Commissioner Dobson <br />which is due May 31. <br />
