President Klusczinski asked for a "vote of consensus to do something with the <br />Preservation Plan of use to the Commission at some point in the future perhaps using the <br />proceeds from the sale of the survey booklets". <br />In a motion by Todd Zeiger and with a second by Mary Jane Chase the Commission <br />voted unanimously to approve the motion. <br />President Klusczinski then asked the Commission to "charge the Historic Districts <br />Committee with pursuing the LHD liaison committee or reactivating those individuals or <br />activating new ones or doing whatever we have to get some representatives from these <br />districts." <br />In a motion by Todd Zeiger with a second by Mary Jane Chase the motion was approved <br />unanimously by Commission. <br />President HIusczinski: And the Advisory Board, does that seem like a legitimate use for <br />the Advisory Board, something that they might be able to help us with or at least find an <br />opportunity to become engaged right now and use their resources to assist us. <br />[President's Report: As budget cuts are perhaps our greatest obstacles in satisfying local <br />preservation needs while limiting our operating efficiency, I recommend that we task the <br />Advisory Board to find creative solutions intended to reduce the impact of these <br />budgetary constraints. This includes but is not limited to: marketing concepts and <br />assistance in the sale and distribution of County and City Survey Booklets.] <br />Zeiger: I think it's a great idea. <br />Klusczinski: Chair entertains a motion. We are charging them to action as far as <br />marketing and -fund raising. <br />Patrick: I was thinking that with Restore Michiana coming up that's something that we <br />can get people showing up to help out, getting involved. <br />Klusczinski: Now they could do that individually. I don't know if they could be <br />required to do that as an Advisory Board... <br />Patrick: I'd like to spearhead this and drag other people along with me if I may. I am - <br />very interested in this... <br />In motion by Todd Zeiger with a second by Mary Jane Chase the motion was passed <br />unanimously by the Commissioners. <br />Assistant Director Amy Herdman announced that Restore Michiana will be on March 8, <br />2008 at St. Joseph High School. By doing the graphics for the mailer Amy estimates that <br />she will save two-thirds the cost of design and printing over last year. She also utilized <br />the surveys from last year's Restore Michiana to determine the work shops and to arrange <br />for a Round Table style lunch with the speakers. She is also building a website which <br />will take registrations on-line. She also said that the staff at St. Joseph High School was <br />very helpful and gracious. <br />Hearing of Visitors: <br />Don Sporleder as a member of the board for the Northern Indiana Center for History <br />commented on the move of the Sons of Israel Synagogue to the NICH Campus.
