NEW BUSINESS (CONT.) <br />a. continued.... <br />be sufficient to pay the entire operating <br />expenses of the Morris Performing Arts <br />Center. Ms. Kolata stated that Ms. <br />Schwartz was correct. Ms. Kolata noted <br />that the operations of the Morris are <br />currently being subsidized by the City of <br />South Bend and this is expected to <br />continue. <br />She noted that when the Morris <br />Performing Arts Center renovation <br />process was put on the table, there were <br />discussions of fundraising for the <br />renovation and also for an endowment <br />that would be used to help offset the <br />operating subsidies. She noted the <br />operating expenses are totally separate <br />from the capital expenditures. She also <br />stated that operations on an ongoing basis <br />include maintaining and upgrading of the <br />Morris building. Some planning will <br />need to be done for maintaining and <br />upgrading the building over the years <br />following the renovation. <br />Ms. Auburn stated that to her knowledge <br />most performing arts centers have about <br />30% to 40% of their income come <br />directly from ticket subscriptions and <br />everything else is underwritten.
