419
pane window is stronger than a single pane window and here
420
scientific research is very clear about it, two windows insulate
421
better than one. So that is why I am saying I see three options
422
either I mean that we discuss that we take the existing windows we
423
install a second glass one the first, existing window, but this is not
424
possible because my windows are too big. And if you do that they
425
loose the strength, it is not stable any more; that is what Wayne
426
Doolittle told me and what I could find in the literature.
427 Tim Klusczinski:
You said that you also met with Steve Schoberg and Paul
428
Hayden...
429 Georges Enderle: Yes.
430 Tim Klusczinski: And I don't have the ability to ask staff if they documented the
431
context of the meeting. But I am interested in knowing if Steve
432
Schoberg ... because he is a contractor, window restoration
433
specialist as far as we know.
434 Georges Enderle:
Right.
435 Tim Klusczinski:
And then Paul Hayden is also technical support from Historic
436
Landmark.
437 Georges Enderle: Yes. Right.
438 Tim Klusczinski:
439
440
441
442
443
444
445
446
447
448
449
450
451
452
453
454
455
456
Georges Enderle:
Did they offer any other suggestions to you?
Well after that meeting, I got three things: I got two articles, which
I mentioned in my letter, and the brochure of light windows
invisible windows which are storm windows inside and outside.
Now, my point, I think is clear. That there are three things: first is
what can we do with the existing storm windows? The second is
what about interior storm windows and third question is what
about exterior storm windows? These are three questions. And the
first question is maybe we can put the second glass on top of the
first one? But this is not possible, I mean with all good will, it is
not stable and the strength of the big windows, they are huge
windows, you know. You cannot with the same wood frame place
another thing ... and, and think... believe that it is insulated over the
next 20 years. This is technically not possible. So, a possibility is,
and I discussed it with Mr. Schoberg, and he said what he would
do, he would restore the window as it is but keep the glass as it is,
not to add any second glass. Well, then I have the same problem
next winter as well, that one glass does not protect enough against
the cold from outside. You assume that I can put interior storm
13
