STAFF REPORT <br />CONCERNING APPLICATION FOR A <br />CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS <br />Date: June6, 2007 <br />Application'Number: 2007-0529 <br />Property Location: 517 Carroll Street <br />Property Owner: Mr. Kent Anderson <br />Landmark or District Designation: Taylor's Field <br />Rating: No rating <br />STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE/HISTORIC CONTEXT <br />Queen Anne house built around 1890 with Arts and Crafts features in the front bay and gable window <br />with a wide carved cornice under. the cave of the front gable dormer. Side windows also display Arts and <br />Crafts characteristics. It has enclosed brick front porch. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Replace removed aluminum siding (2005) with vinyl. Retain architectural <br />value in gables and roofline fascia boards and windows. <br />Please see attached minute from November 21, 2005 meeting. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval. Wayne Doolittle has met on site with Mr. Anderson <br />both individually and with Catherine Hostetler and Lynn Patrick concerning what is to be covered with vinyl <br />and what is to be left exposed. Mr. Anderson is going to apply vinyl siding to the body of the house using the <br />same width as the original siding. He will use vertical vinyl to clad the corner boards. All of the wood trim <br />around windows will be repaired and painted. The gables and fascia will also be scraped and painted. <br />
