South Bend Redevelopment Commission <br />Regular Meeting - May 16, 1997 <br />6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.) <br />b. continued.... <br />Ms. Kolata asked Mr. Thorsburg if he had <br />any site plans. Mr. Thorsburg presented the <br />site plan to the Commission. He explained <br />that the first units will be the units <br />overlooking the city. The units that will be <br />facing Corby Boulevard will be built next, <br />and the units that will face Niles Avenue <br />will be built last. <br />Mr. Hunt asked if the tax abatement will be <br />based on the building of the first units. <br />Mike Beitzinger stated the tax abatement is <br />based on the entire project. <br />Ms. Auburn stated that previously the <br />Commission granted a residential tax <br />abatement for the Stephenson Mill <br />Apartments. Ms. Kolata noted that the <br />Commission has granted tax abatements for <br />multi - family residential units on several <br />occasions. Monroe Park Apartments; <br />Robertson's; Central; and, Stephenson Mills <br />Apartments, etc. She noted that there's a <br />provision for multi - family residential units <br />which usually applies to apartments. <br />Ms. Auburn asked Dan Thorsburg if he has <br />developed town homes previously. He <br />stated that C.D.T., L.L.C. has just completed <br />a six unit town home project in Chicago, <br />Illinois. He noted that the majority owner of <br />C.D.T., L.L.C. has been building for 38 <br />years in Chicago and just completed and <br />sold 69 town homes in Chicago.
