Anderson: I'd like to ask about changing my side door. I called and they said, because the door
is not, it's an interior door, I'd like to put a steel door on for security.
Klusczinski: So you'd be asking us to amend your application? To put on a steel door right
now? Or would you like to take care of that at another time?
Anderson: Well, I'd like to do it before I paint.
Hostetler: We could staff approve it. We could staff approve the door, that wouldn't be a
problem.
Klusczinski: So you'd need to come in and fill out a separate Certificate of Appropriateness for
the door since it wasn't part of this, ok?
Sporleder: And that's to replace the door, not change the location of the door? Just so I
understand. We could amend it though.
Anderson: I just want to get it done before they paint, so that they can paint the door.
Hostetler: But we don't know what it looks like.
Klusczinski: Would you care to make any other statements regarding your project?
Anderson: No.
Klusczinski: The Chair recognizes Commissioners with questions for the petitioner. Hearing
none, the Chair opens discussion. Also hearing none, I'll open the public hearing portion.
Anyone in the public wishing to speak in support of the Certificate of Appropriateness, please
come forward. Hearing none, anyone wishing to speak in opposition to the Certificate? Also
hearing none, the public hearing is closed. No rebuttal huh? Chair recognizes Commissioners
with additional comments.
Sporleder: It's not relevant, I think. This chimney, we're only talking about siding, correct?
And, we're quite clear that all of the existing wood trim, fascia and all of that will remain?
Anderson: It's being painted, I already have a contractor.
Sporleder: I just want to be absolutely clear that I understand what the C of A is for.
Zeiger: But the corner boards are being wrapped. So, not all the trim is being painted.
Sporleder: The corner boards are being wrapped.
Anderson: We're doing that and bringing them out so that it will be the same depth as the siding.
Sporleder: Ok, thank you.
Klusczinski: Other comments? Questions? I'll entertain a motion
Sporleder: I make the motion that application number 2007-0529, 517 Carroll Street be
approved as presented and recommended by staff.
Klusczinski: Is there a second?
Choitz: Second.
Klusczinski: All in favor? (Ayes are heard) Opposed? (An aye is heard) Motion carries with
one opposed.
A brief delay occurs when Legal Counsel verifies (via HPC by-laws) that the previous vote
was legal and satisfied our quorum requirement. When satisfied that it was appropriate,
the meeting proceeded and the vote was recorded.
Sporleder: In the mean time, the opposing vote must state their reason.
Zeiger: Todd Zeiger, I'm opposed to the application of vinyl siding, I don't think that it follows
the guidelines adopted for the neighborhood. The wood siding appears to be repairable and
paintable.
Moved: Sporleder Second: Choitz
To approve 2007-0529 Approved 4-1, Zeiger opposed
Chase hadn't arrived
2
